Dedicated to making the benefits system accessible for everyone in Birmingham.
disimpolk was founded in 2009 by a group of welfare rights advisors who had spent years working within local authority benefits departments. They saw first-hand how many people struggled to access support they were entitled to, often due to the complexity of forms, confusing eligibility rules, or simply not knowing where to begin.
The founders believed that professional guidance should not be a luxury reserved for those who could afford solicitors. They created disimpolk to offer affordable, practical help to ordinary people navigating an increasingly complicated system.
Over the past fifteen years, we have grown from a small office above a chemist in Digbeth to a dedicated advisory centre in the city centre. Our team now includes specialists in disability benefits, pension entitlements, housing support, and appeals representation.
To ensure that every person in Birmingham and the surrounding areas can access the financial support they are entitled to, regardless of their background, education, or familiarity with bureaucratic processes.
Our advisors have backgrounds in welfare rights, local government, and the voluntary sector. Several team members have also been through the benefits system themselves, either as claimants or as carers for family members.
This combination of professional knowledge and lived experience means we understand not just the technical aspects of applications, but the emotional weight that comes with them.
We do not use jargon or assume prior knowledge. Whether you have never applied for a benefit before or you are challenging a decision you do not understand, we explain everything step by step.
You will never leave a consultation wondering what happens next. We provide written summaries of our advice and clear action points so you know exactly what needs to be done.
Our relationship does not end when the form is submitted. We track the progress of your application, help you respond to requests for additional information, and are here if you need to appeal or report a change in circumstances.
Many of our clients return to us years later when their situations change or new benefits become available.
